i was concerned that with a change of ownership standards would drop but after visiting i should not have had any concerns food was just a tasty hot and fresh as ever and service was great good luck to the new owners

I was recommended to try The Olive Tree for tea one evening by a friend and after weeks of putting the idea off, I finally caved in on Thursday evening. For what I thought was just a regular trip to the local chippy turned out to be quite something else. The Olive Tree is essentially two different take aways rolled into one which compensates for everybodys individual needs. It has the british classic, fish and chip shop menu which offers a variety of different types of fish from Hake to Haddock. The Olive Tree then has the Meditterranean aspect of the menu which offers shish kebab meat, king prawns and other types of fish such as salmon and seabass, all of which is cooked on an open flame grill right in front of your eyes. Each item is served in a tray with a side portion of salad and homemade rice. I decided to suprise the wife and kids and bring home a selection of shish kebabs, chicken x2, lamb and sheftali. Each kebab was served in a pitta bread with salad which was beautifully presented! I also added a seperate portion of chips just in case! One of the most impressive elements of the experience was the customer service. The young lady who served me was brilliant, and offered to give me a wide variety of sauces to take home and test with the family. The shop itself is aesthetically pleasing and whoever was responsible for putting it together deserves a big pat on the back. The cleanliness of the shop was also immaculate. As mentioned earlier, the staff were welcoming, assuring and understanding; and most importantly the food was absolutely brilliant, 10 out of 10! Its difficult to put into words how impressed I was with The Olive Tree however I felt compelled to write a review. I just wish i had went sooner! Keep up the good work. Highly Recommended!

Finally Mere Green has a second chippy. However, on visiting you could be forgiven for thinking you've got your Mere Green maths wrong. This is like two chippies in one. Part old fashioned traditional England. Part sun-kissed Mediterranean flavours. When I arrived with my husband early on a Tuesday evening there was already a substantial queue. I wondered whether this could be attributed in part to the sheer varieties of foods on sale. With a menu so comprehensive, customers take time to select their choices and the staff take their time to prepare the orders. However, it's nice to go to a chippy where food doesn't feel like it's being turned out on a production line. In any case, we took advantage of the queues by marvelling at the freshly prepared Kofta Kebabs, Grilled Corn, Mixed Mediterranean Veg and Fresh Greek Salads. Despite these choices, we needed to check they could do our favourites well, first. So we went down the English seaside route going for traditional fish and chips. The Prime Scottish Cod was huge and gorgeous and at £4.30 was reasonably priced in an area known for expensive chippies. A side of breaded mushrooms was an unusual treat from the quirky menu. This is a great addition to Mere Green. The only question is, is it a pie and sausage night or an evening for fresh lamb shish with taramasalata?

It was suggested I take a trip to this new chippy that opened up in Mere Green. So after a skin full last Friday I was being driven past and demanded that we stop off for food. Once inside I immediately noticed that this wasn't just any old chippy. It was a Mediterranean Grill too. Freshly cooked Kebabs on an open flame! Once I had stopped salivating at the menu and decided which of the delicious kebabs would suit my gut full of beer my order went in. My girlfriend, who wasn't hungry at all, was forced to order the same. After waiting around ten minutes for my meat to be freshly cooked I was asked the questions which are music to my ears... salad and chilli sauce? Shortly after that I was clutching an empty wrapper. Nuff said!
